This new website is for those who wish to enhance their child's educational endeavors or for those of us who never stop wanting to learn.

The goal of Learning in Florida is to go beyond listing field trips and events in Florida. With the help of teachers and homeschoolers this site will also list free study guides and ideas to help increase the learning potential of field trips and events. You will also find unit study ideas, field trips, events and websites tied together to make learning more exciting and meaningful.

The success of this website will depend heavily on reader's input so if you know of an field trip idea and event in your area of Florida please let us know.

I am excited to announce a Homemaking class available in the Haines City area. This class is for girls ages 10 and up  who would like to have fun and make friends while learning skills that they will need in the future. Also, moms will have to be willing to allow their young ladies to practice what they learn like planning menus, comparison shop for a meal, cooking and baking, growing plants, etc.

Throughout the year they will gain the knowledge and skill demanded to successfully run a household in today's society.

Some of the skills that will be taught are:

Proper Diet

Menu Planning

Shopping & price comparisons, coupon use and more

Cooking/Baking

Cake Decorating

Table Setting

Manners

Party Planning

First Aid

Child Care/Babysitting

Cleaning Tips

Basic Sewing

Vegetable/Herb Growing

Frugal Living Skills

Personal Safety

If there is enough interest from older teens we will have a special class for them that would also include advance use of herbs, different cuts of meat, special diets for health problems, and car basics. (Yes, car basics like changing tires and fluids and the basic mechanical system of vehicles.)

Throughout the year we will have guest speakers on different topics and include field trips like produce depts., quilt shops, kitchen supply store and more.

This is a class that is worth the drive once a month. Your daughter will walk out with knowledge and skill that she will be able to use to make a happy and successful household no matter what her future holds.

The time will be from 9:30am to 4:30pm. Cost is $15 a class plus any books or supplies needed. This cost also includes lunch and drinks. Moms are welcomed to stay but it is not necessary. However, siblings that are not enrolled in class will not be able to stay.

The same class will be available twice a month.
